BOAT DIMENSIONS

Before you purchase your boat storage unit, you need to determine the exact size of your boat. In order to get accurate specifications look at the diagram below.

  • Overall Length (LOA): When measuring LOA, you must include in your measurement: Swim platform, engines or outdrives positioned for storage (many drives must be tilted up for storage and extend the length of the boat) bow pulpits, anchors, forward railings and outrigging.
  • Overall Height: Overall height is measured from the lowest point on the boat’s keel to the highest point. Engines and outdrives can be excluded if they can be raised, however, note that when raising engines it may increase your LOA. Overall height must include all fixed equipment such as radar arrays, mast lights, hardtops, t-tops, outrigging, canopies, etc.
  • Beam: Beam is measured at the widest point on the boat and must include rubrails. Determining the size of the boat storage unit needed.

Once you know the LOA, overall height and beam of your boat as well as the total weight (including fuel, water & gear) you can determine which boat storage unit is right for you. For instance, say your boat’s Beam is 10’6” and Overall Height is 12’6”and LOA is 40’ then the smallest slip you could reserve would be 11’x13’x40’.* When choosing your slip keep in mind that one day you may decide to buy a larger boat and there may not be any larger spaces left to purchase once you sell yours.
